Ideato da Il Melograno e sperimentato a lungo da un farmacista veronese, il progetto Farmacia Amica dell’Allattamento materno si avvale di un protocollo costituito da indicazioni che affidano ai farmacisti un ruolo importante nella tutela e nel sostegno dell’allattamento materno.
La Farmacia che aderisce al protocollo si allinea a ciò che l’O.M.S. ribadisce: il latte materno è l’alimento specie-specifico per nutrire i bambini e le madri vanno sostenute ad allattare al seno in modo esclusivo fino ai sei mesi di vita del bambino continuando anche dopo l’introduzione di alimenti complementari.
La mamma, i neo genitori, per i quali la farmacia rappresenta un punto di riferimento per la consulenza sulla salute del bambino, sono qui sostenuti anche in questa pratica di salute.
L’iniziativa è così articolata:
- Formazione dei farmacisti secondo gli standard proposti per gli operatori sanitari dall’O.M.S/Unicef.
- Allestimento nelle farmacie di un piccolo spazio nel quale la mamma che desidera allattare potrà trovare un luogo di accoglienza.
- Adeguamento degli spazi espositivi al Codice Internazionale per la Commercializzazione dei Sostituti del Latte Materno, elaborato dall’OMS e dall’UNICEF e approvato nel 1981 dall’Assemblea Mondiale della Sanità e dalle più importanti compagnie produttrici di alimenti per l’infanzia. Il Codice è stato studiato per proteggere le madri e l’allattamento dal marketing aggressivo degli alimenti industriali per bambini.
- Promozione della cultura dell’allattamento, veicolata anche attraverso le immagini che “vestono” l’ambiente Farmacia.
- Attivazione sul territorio e nella comunità iniziative e progetti in rete con altri attori sociali che tutelano l’allattamento materno

Sono entusiasta del'iniziativa! Sono una mamma che ha allattato i suoi figli per oltre un anno e…. ….sono una farmacista che ha sempre stimolato le neo mamme a proseguire l'allattamento.Non posso quindi che perseguire gli obiettivi del Progettofaam.Abbiamo rinnovato la farmacia e predisposto una ampia zona dove le mamme possono allattare e pesare i loro bambini.Seguiro' appena possibile i corsi di aggiornamento organizzati per seguire gli standards proposti dall'Unicef /O.M.S !
La sua esperienza di mamma darà vita e sonorità ai contenuti della formazione… ed è già di certo una grande ricchezza per i genitori che si rivolgono a lei. Buon lavoro al servizio della salute delle mamme e dei bambini!
Sono la Dott.ssa Consuelo Piazzi, ho partecipato alla prima giornata del corso sull'allattamanto al seno e ho trovato gli argomenti affrontati molto interessanti sia dal punto di vista personale che professionale. Nella Farmacia San Rocco a Pescantina, dove lavoro e dove esiste già un angolo dove le mamme possono pesare i loro bambini, molte clienti sono neomamme che richiedono spesso consigli e soluzioni per i problemi che riscontrano quotidianamente per il benessere proprio e del loro bambino. Ho potuto constatare che a volte questi problemi possono portare la mamma a decidere di smettere l'allattamento al seno, ma sono sicura che grazie a quanto ho appreso in questo corso potrò evitare quanto più possibile questa eventualità.
Smettere di allattare deve essere il frutto di una scelta non di mancati informazione e sostegno. il farmacista è importante anche perchè ha le competenze per inviare la mamma a chi sa risolvere problematiche di natura clinica. Grazie per il lavoro che sta facendo!
